What to Know About Your Credit Card Changes

In August, TruPartner mailed a letter to credit cardholders outlining important changes to our credit card program. We understand that changes to your credit card can bring questions, so we want to make sure you have the information you need to understand what is changing and what it means for you.

As explained in the letter, our previous credit card program has been discontinued, and TruPartner credit cards are now offered through our updated Visa® credit card  The new cards include chip technology, contactless tap-to-pay capability, and a fresh new card design.  The interest rate will change from a non-variable to variable rate based on the Wall Street Journal Prime rate.

Our goal is to make this transition as clear and convenient as possible. Below, you will find Frequently Asked Questions designed to provide additional information and address many of the questions you may have about the credit card changes. Frequently Asked Questions

No. TruPartner Credit Union does not currently offer a fixed-rate credit card. Our Visa® cards have variable interest rates, which may change over time based on the applicable rate terms and tied to the Wall Street Journal Prime rate. This ensures your rate is always competitive in any rate environment.

As a reminder, you do not pay interest on your purchases if you pay the balance in full each month.
Any cash back that was previously earned with your Visa® Platinum card will be credited to your account.

The new Visa® Rewards card will earn points for each purchase that then can be redeemed for travel, merchandise, gift cards, or cash back to your account. With the new rewards program, you will have more options than just cash back.

Your letter specified which card program you were opted into and whether or not you will get a new card right away. If you would like to confirm your card type or change it, please contact us.
As stated in the letter, you can decline all of the changes. Your card will be closed to future advances and purchases. If you have an existing balance, you will be responsible for making payments according to the terms of your original agreement.

If you were due to receive a new card with a new number, it has been mailed and you should receive it soon if you haven't already. It will be in an unmarked envelope, so don't throw it away!
